Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Fine Hole Grater
  • High-speed blender or food processor

Ingredients

  • cups cooked black beans
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil or vegetable broth
  • 1 medium garlic clove finely grated
  • ½ medium white onion chopped
  • tsp sweet smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp pink salt
  • ½ tsp toasted, ground cumin
  • tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp coriander powder

Instructions

  • If using canned beans, then wash, drain and pat them dry before using.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat the avocado oil. To keep this recipe oil free, use vegetable broth instead. You may need to add a little more broth than oil, if it dries out while cooking.
  • Once the oil is heated, add in the onion and garlic. Stir for a few minutes, until the onions are translucent.
  • Turn off the heat. Blend together all ingredients, including the onion-garlic mixture, in a food processor until smooth.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl. Some ideas to serve are as a dip for chips or veggies, as a burrito filling or a sandwich spread!
