- 1¼ cups dry TVP
- 2½ cups vegetable broth boiled
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 medium purple onion sliced
- 2 medium garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp pink salt
- ½ tsp toasted, ground cumin seeds
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tbsp tamari
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
Add the dry TVP to the boiling water. Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
In a skillet over medium heat, add in the oil.
Once hot, add in onions and garlic.
Stir for a few minutes, until the onions are softened.
Add in the remaining ingredients (except the broth and TVP), stirring to combine in the skillet.
Stir in the broth-TVP mixture, cooking until the liquid is absorbed.
Turn the heat off once cooked. Serve this as a meat substitute in recipes, such as tacos!
