Substitutions
Chocolate: Choose dairy-free chocolate chips, by checking the ingredient label for any milk products. Regular-size, semisweet chocolate chips work the best here, but mini chocolate chips will work too. Dark chocolate chips will make this recipe taste a little more bitter. However, it will have less sugar overall in the chocolate.
Cream Cheese: There are a few brands that make vegan cream cheese. Taste test your cream cheese before using in this recipe. If you enjoy it straight out of the container in a sandwich or bagel, then it’ll be great to use in this recipe! You want to pick a cream cheese brand that aligns as closely with the regular (dairy-based) cream cheese flavor as you can. You can find different brands in the vegan aisle of the grocery store, or buy it online.
Brown Sugar: Light brown sugar is used here, but you can also use dark brown sugar. You can make your own brown sugar by using some xylitol and molasses instead. Although there are healthier options like coconut sugar, replacing all the brown sugar with coconut sugar will not provide the same taste and texture, and I do not recommend it.
Xylitol: This recipe uses powdered xylitol, which can be made by adding granulated xylitol into a spice grinder. You may also find bags of powdered xylitol in the same area as the vegan and gluten-free baking ingredients at the grocery store. Regular powdered sugar may also be a substitute.

- To make the dip texture thinner, add a splash of oat milk or another plant-based milk.
- Instead of semisweet chocolate chips, switch it up and add in vegan rainbow sprinkles and vegan white chocolate chips, to make it funfetti dip!
- Add in a spoon of peanut butter to make this a peanut chocolate chip dip. Make sure to adjust the sugar, cream cheese and vanilla flavors as needed.
- Dipping options can be pretzels, chocolate graham crackers, apple slices, vegan teddy grahams, graham cracker sticks or more!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Dip
Equipment
- Electric Hand Mixer optional
Ingredients
- ¼ cup vegan butter softened to room temperature, not melted
- 4 oz vegan cream cheese ½ of an 8 oz pack
- 11 tsp powdered xylitol
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1¼ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp pink salt
- ¾ cup vegan semisweet chocolate chips
- vegan animal crackers for dipping
Instructions
- Mix together all ingredients, except the chocolate chips and animal crackers, in a medium bowl until a dip forms. You can do this manually, or with an electric hand mixer for a fluffier texture.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture into a serving bowl. Serve with vegan animal crackers, pretzels or your favorite dipping foods. Enjoy!
