Cinnamon Dolce Latte Recipe
Today we are making a Cinnamon Dolce Latte Recipe! Cinnamon lattes and banana bread, hello! So a few little updates before I get to the recipe. With weather in my area changing every hour, I saw sunlight, rain and snow in the span of 8 hours. I also missed the Pink Moon, which was supposed to come around this week (also, I thought it was pink – it’s not).
Turns out, the term “Pink Moon” in April is analogous to the term “Harvest Moon” for October full moons. The term was coined because moss pink, or wild ground phlox, is in blossom during this time. With Harvest Moons, the term began because it was particularly bright and long-lasting, allowing farmers to extend their working days to gather more crops and prepare for the winter “harvest.”
Cooped Up Inside
This quarantine feels like that winter harvest right about now, and I’m sure many can relate, being all cooped up indoors (have you also been sanitizing the grocery that’s been coming from delivery services so you don’t have to go to the grocery store in person? Because I have, and I can’t look at an apple in the same way now that I’ve sanitized all 12 apples I got, along with every other fruit or vegetable bag). Alas, there will be a light at the end of this tunnel.
Where will this light magically appear from? For starters, it comes in the form of a cinnamon dolce latte! This is inspired by Starbucks version, but only partly. I wouldn’t say it’s a copycat Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte because I didn’t use cinnamon syrup in this recipe, making it easier to make at home. Plus, it’s all frothed in one cup (espresso shots, sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon spice), the milk is poured in and you have a latte ready in the comfort of your own home, without much effort!
So while you’re watching Seinfeld reruns for who-knows-how-long, I’m going to keep whipping up cozy recipes at home for you to try (and be a Starbucks barista for the day)!
Why You’ll Love This Cinnamon Dolce Latte Recipe
No Simple Syrup Required: This delicious latte contains no homemade cinnamon syrup. It’s a cinnamon latte with a dolce latte taste that has just four simple ingredients: coffee, milk, sugar and cinnamon! That makes it much quicker to make, easier to clean up, a fraction of the cost as compared to buying a cinnamon latte and great for single servings (no need to make a large batch of cinnamon syrup just for use in one cup, then be left wondering what to do with the leftover syrup).
Substitutions
Ground Cinnamon: Use fresh cinnamon sticks! Using a whole cinnamon stick, ground to a powder in a spice grinder makes for the freshest cinnamon flavor. You can also buy pre-ground powder.
Oat Milk: There are many other plant-based milks that can work. Oat milk is a nut-free option, but almond milk, coconut milk or cashew milk can work as well.
Espresso: Brew espresso in an espresso machine and use it for this recipe. Alternatively, use extra strong coffee or make coffee using instant granules and then measure the liquid.
Coconut Sugar: Use brown sugar as opposed to white sugar or other white sugar substitutes. The flavor works way better with cinnamon spice drinks!
