Easy Homemade Cheesy Pizza Fries Recipe
Today we are making an Easy Homemade Cheesy Pizza Fries Recipe! This recipe is a fusion between two of the most popular party foods (or maybe even all-round favorite foods)! Pizza + French Fries! More specifically, cheesy pizza loaded with veggies + thick, seasoned potato wedges. I love a good pizza party movie night, but also a giant plate of well-seasoned fries is hard to resist.
But hey, we don’t have to say no to one or the other – no, I’m not talking about fries as an appetizer and pizza for dinner either. I mean, let’s combine them to make the perfect dish that has the great flavors of both – HOMEMADE PIZZA FRIES. These cheesy fries use thickly cut potato wedges with different toppings like olives, onions, bell peppers, cheese and your favorite pizza sauce, all baked to perfection in the oven for pizza – on your fries. How genius?! I will say, this is the good stuff. You’ll love making for a crowd (or maybe a Super bowl side dish) and your guests will definitely come back for seconds!
Why You’ll Love This Easy Homemade Cheesy Pizza Fries Recipe
Perfectly Crispy Baked Fries: Let’s talk about the fries, shall we? Whether you’re using high-quality frozen fries or making them from scratch, the key is achieving that perfect crunch. These fries are baked to golden perfection, so when you sink your teeth into them, you experience that satisfying crispy exterior that gives way to a fluffy, potatoey interior. It’s the kind of texture that elevates this dish from ordinary to extraordinary.
All the Pizza Flavor in Every Bite: Picture this: each fry is a tiny pizza canvas. The canvas is coated in a rich, tangy tomato sauce that’s been seasoned to perfection. Then, you have savory sauce, veggies and cheese that bring about a salty flavor and lots of texture. As if that’s not enough, we sprinkle a medley of Italian herbs – oregano, basil, and garlic powder – to infuse every inch with an authentic pizza flavor!
Substitutions
Pizza Sauce: Check the ingredients in your pizza sauce, to make sure it doesn’t contain animal products such as milk or meat, before using. You can use Primavera, Basil & Garlic or another pasta sauce flavor of choice.
Cheddar & Mozzarella Cheese: There are many brands of vegan mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese (or whole blocks of cheese that you can shred) available at many grocery stores. Taste test your cheese before using – some are hit or miss with the flavor. I used Violife’s brand in this recipe.
Vegetables: You can substitute different pizza toppings as desired. Do not use tomatoes, pineapple or other fruits and vegetables that contain too much water – this will make your fries too salty. The current mix of veggies is perfect and has a great color combination, but you can substitute black olives for green olives, or broccoli for mushrooms.
Potatoes: This recipe uses medium-sized red potatoes. These are a popular choice in potato recipes for their tender texture and slightly sweet flavor. Russet potatoes are a good idea for a substitute due to their high starch content and thick skin. You can also try this recipe with pre-made frozen fries, baking them as per the instructions on the package.
Easy Homemade Cheesy Pizza Fries Recipe Notes
- To make the fries topping extra baked, put the oven on the broil setting for a few minutes, keeping a close eye to ensure the fries don’t burn!

- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- pink salt
- black pepper
- Italian seasoning
- ¼ cup vegan shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup vegan shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 tbsp marinara sauce
- ¼ small purple onion sliced lengthwise
- 1 medium garlic clove finely grated
- 2 medium mushrooms sliced lengthwise
- 5 black olives pitted and sliced lengthwise
- ⅓ medium red bell pepper sliced lengthwise
- ⅓ medium yellow bell pepper sliced lengthwise
- ⅓ medium green bell pepper sliced lengthwise
- red pepper flakes optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- In a baking tray lined with parchment paper, lay out the potato wedges in a single layer. Drizzle the olive oil over top, followed by a sprinkle of salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Eyeball the seasoning as desired, then toss the potato wedges to coat the seasoning all over.
- Evenly spread the wedges on the baking tray, then place in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, turning the baking sheet around halfway through to ensure even baking.
- After 40 minutes, remove the potatoes from the oven. Evenly drizzle the pasta sauce, then half the cheddar and mozzarella cheese, then the vegetables, followed by the remaining half of the cheese over top of the fries.
- Bake again for another 10 minutes.
- Once the potatoes are done, remove from the oven and place on a heat-proof surface. Top with red pepper flakes, if you like it spicy!
- Enjoy the fries warm. Be careful – they'll be super hot!
