Why You’ll Love This Refried Bean Dip Recipe

High in Protein: One of the standout features of this dip is its impressive protein content, thanks to the beans. Each bite delivers a satisfying amount of plant-based protein, making it an excellent option for those looking to boost their intake without relying on animal products. This makes it not only a tasty snack but also a nutritious one that can help keep hunger at bay. Whether you’re serving it as an appetizer or enjoying it as a mid-day snack, this dip provides a nourishing boost that will keep you energized. It’s especially great for those following a vegan or vegetarian diet, offering a simple and delicious way to meet daily protein needs.

Great Potluck Dip: When it comes to potlucks, finding a dish that’s both easy to make and universally loved can be a challenge, but this refried bean dip checks all the boxes. Its rich, savory flavor appeals to a wide range of tastes, making it a safe bet for any gathering. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to scale up, so you can whip up a large batch without much extra effort. The dip holds up well at room temperature, ensuring that it stays delicious throughout the event. Whether you’re serving it alongside tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or even as a topping for nachos, this dip is guaranteed to disappear quickly, earning you rave reviews from friends and family.

Substitutions

Black Beans: Substitute with pinto beans instead. Or, try a white bean like navy beans or cannellini beans!

White Onion: Use yellow onions instead of white. Purple onions (red) and green onions (scallions) are too bitter to use here.

Avocado Oil: Use olive oil, grapeseed oil or vegetable broth instead. You may need to slightly up the amount of broth used, if the pan dries out during cooking. Additionally, broth contains extra sodium, so it may make the dip a little saltier than usual. You can cut back on the extra salt by taste-testing it first, then adding the salt into the dip last.

Garlic: For best results, stick with a fresh clove of garlic, instead of a pre-made paste.
