Fruity Mocktail Recipe (Pomegranate & Rosemary)

Fruity Mocktail Recipe

A Fruity Mocktail Recipe

Today we are making a Pomegranate, Grapefruit & Rosemary Fruity Mocktail Recipe! It’s 9pm on a Friday night, your party days are over, self-care face mask on, book in one hand and tea in the other, you begin to unwind on the sofa while re-runs of Friends play on the Netflix screen that you’re no longer paying attention to. Sound somewhat familiar?

If your Friday night routine has gotten more relaxed as you’ve gotten older, I think we get each other on some level. After COVID, and getting older in general, going out hasn’t been all that (at least going out in my small hometown, where the most fun thing to happen is the summer farmer’s market) to the point where I’d rather sit at home with a book in hand, or typing away at another blog post. The reason I’m sharing this is because you need to put that tea down right now. I’ve got something much better for that Friday night after-hours drink you’ve been craving!

If you’re wondering why I so aggressively got your attention while your tea cools down on your nightstand, I’ll tell you why! This is a colourful, nutrition filled, alcohol-free fruity drink that’s something you can drink at all times of the day. This is for you, the one who has that one friend in the group doing an alcohol and/or added sugar detox (or maybe that person is you). Either way, go grab some of these vitamin-packed fruits so you can get juicing! You don’t even need a juicer or a cocktail shaker – I actually just used a lemon press, which is something you can find at a Dollar store!

Why You’ll Love This Fruity Mocktail Recipe

Easy & Elevated: This delicious mocktail has a beautiful dark pink color to it, making it look like an elevated and classy drink to serve the whole family during the holiday season, baby showers, birthday parties, a refreshing mocktail to make a hot summer day or just a drink you can customize for special events. You can even put a lemon slice, lime slices, frozen blueberries, fresh raspberries or other fresh fruits in it for more color! The sprigs of rosemary add just the perfect touch of green color and texture to this drink as well.

Plus, if you’re partaking in sober October, dry January or just looking for a non-alcoholic drink option, this is perfect!

Flavor Combination: This is a unique combination of a sour (grapefruit), sweet (pomegranate) and almost pine and mint-like (rosemary) drink!

Full of Nutrition!

Nutrition: There is more than just one reason to make this mocktail. Grapefruits, pomegranates and rosemary ALL have amazing health benefits (as if you needed another reason)! Take a look at some of the nutrition in these all-powerful fruits and herbs:

Pomegranate: Contains Vitamins A, C, E, K, potassium, folate, iron, antioxidants (tannins and polyphenols) and over 100 phytochemicals. It has also been shown to protect against cancer, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, heart disease, lower blood pressure, improve gut diseases, decrease insulin resistance and lower blood sugar, and provide endurance in sports.

Grapefruit: Contains Vitamin C, potassium, B vitamins, zinc, copper and iron. Helps to control insulin levels/insulin resistance, lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, reduces risk of kidney stones and lowers blood pressure. Contains antioxidants such as beta-carotene, lycopene and flavanones (as well as the Vitamin C mentioned above).

Rosemary: Contains Manganese (helps the body form blood clots to heal injuries faster), as well as niacin, thiamin, folate, riboflavin and pantothenic acid. It has also been shown to reduce the risk of cancer (due to carnosic acid), support the immune system (due to the carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid), reduce stress and anxiety, improve eye health, lower the risk of liver disease and more!

Substitutions

Rosemary: Use other fresh herbs, such as fresh thyme or fresh mint sprigs in replacement of the rosemary. The dried version will not have the same effect!

Pomegranate Juice: Fresh fruit juices such as green / white grape juice, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice or cranberry juice will be the best substitute here. Additionally, some coconut water can be an option instead of the pomegranate juice (I don’t recommend to use only coconut water for all of it though).

Grapefruit Juice: Fresh lime juice or lemon juice can substitute for the citrus flavor here.

Sweetener: You can try to substitute a different type of sweetener. For example, date syrup, brown rice syrup, coconut sugar, coconut syrup or another instead of the pure maple syrup. Be sure to select a lighter color (a higher grade, such as grade A) maple syrup. The lighter the color, the less it will taste like molasses.

I wouldn’t recommend any dry sweetener because they are granulated. This can cause the sugar to not mix properly, so use at your own risk. If you have a pre-made sugar simple syrup, you can use some of that as well. It wouldn’t be a refined sugar-free drink then, if the syrup is made of white sugar.

Fruity Mocktail Recipe Notes

  • After you’re done with the drink, you’ll have extra rosemary sprigs at the bottom of the cup. Additionally, there will be pulp leftover from the pomegranate and grapefruit juicing. • To make this drink more soda-like, add some club soda, soda water, non-alcoholic ginger beer or ginger ale into it!

More Great Ideas for Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Agua de Jamaica: This is a popular Mexican beverage that can be hot or iced. It uses hibiscus leaves, which color the drink a beautiful bright red!

Non-Alcoholic Apple Cider: This cozy, spiced winter apple drink uses apples left in water and spices overnight to infuse the flavors together!

Mango Lassi: A classic Indian drink, mango lassi is a mango-based, cold yogurt beverage with cardamom flavor. This time, we use vegan yogurt to veganize the drink!

Iced Vanilla Latte: This is a remake of the classic Starbucks drink. It’s the perfect way to get your caffeine fix on a hot day! Vanilla with coffee, sweetener and milk make for the easiest summer coffee drink!
