Homemade Fresh Peach Ice Cream Recipe
Today we are making a Homemade Fresh Peach Ice Cream Recipe! I REPEAT. ICE CREAM IN A JAR. PEACH PIE. A cold and thick mixture of juicy peaches, mixed into a creamy peach ice cream base on a hot summer day – bursting with real peach flavor!
The inspiration for this recipe came about because I had actually bought quite a few peaches a couple weeks ago. They were probably some of the juiciest I’ve ever had! Usually though, summer fruits don’t taste the best in colder months after summer is over, but I don’t know what the deal with these were. Anyhow, they sat in my fruit basket, then landed in my fridge in various drawers. And they sat there some more.
One day, I realized the peaches I had thrown into the fridge were starting to mold – bad on me for not eating them in advance. So I quickly took all the peaches and started making peach recipes. I don’t know about you, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of peach recipes is something along the lines of peach cobbler, peach pie or some kind of pastry dough peach recipe.
Why is that? I don’t know, maybe the fact that 90’s kids grew up making recipes centered around all-purpose flour, so pies, tarts, cakes and pastries were ideas I was always into before I got more into (thank you Betty Crocker) no-bake desserts and recipes. But the idea of having a peach-flavored ice cream was interesting, and not a dessert I ever really tried. Until the thought of making this homemade ice cream recipe came to mind!
No Churn, No Freeze Healthy Ice Cream
Like my recent track record of recipes has been, this is again a pretty simple recipe. It’s no-freeze (at least not the ice cream itself, save for the fruit to use in it), no-churn type recipe. The only thing that takes a bit longer is making the peach mixture and chilling it.
The first time I made it, I didn’t chill it. By adding it straight into my ice cream, it made the ice cream melt way too fast. So make sure you do refrigerate this mixture until it is completely chilled, unless you want runny ice cream.
How Long Does it Take?
The entire process from start to finish takes about 8 hours. This is due to freezing the peaches and bananas to use (I usually freeze them overnight). Then making the peach mixture takes just a few minutes on the stovetop. Chilling this mixture for a few hours to cool down in the refrigerator also takes time. Most of the time is just waiting to chill the ingredients, but the actual making of the ice cream is quite easy!
Why You’ll Love This Homemade Fresh Peach Ice Cream Recipe
No Special Equipment Needed: This delicious recipe requires no special equipment – no Cuisinart ice cream maker, no churning or freezing of the ice cream required! You just need a blender or a food processor to make this, plus a small saucepan to make the chunky peach sauce-like mixture.
Refined Sugar-Free: This ice cream contains no refined sugar, such as white sugar. Some xylitol is used in the peach mixture, and the rest of the sugars are naturally occurring in the bananas and peaches. Some of my favorite recipes for ice cream are made with frozen fruit because of this reason! Many fruits are already so sweet and lend a wonderful flavor to ice cream, there’s no need to add extra sugar if the base is not milk but rather fruit.
Plus, the best part is that these fruit-only-based ice cream recipes are made with no animal products – no heavy cream, egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk or otherwise. This means they can cater to a wider audience, plus you get in fiber, multiple servings of fruit and many more benefits! Fruit-based raw ice cream recipes are usually also made of more simple ingredients, since they are mainly just fruits and maybe some nuts or seeds.
Most of this recipe also contains all raw ingredients, save for some xylitol in the chunky peach sauce mixture. Keep scrolling to find the recipe card at the end of this post with full instructions!
Substitutions
Frozen Bananas: This is a great recipe to also use up extra bananas! Use bananas that are just about ripe, not too spotty and not too green. The spottier the banana, the darker it will be in color once you peel it. This will make the ice cream a dark brown color. However, we want that beautiful peach color that would only work with bananas that are not already super spotty inside. Make sure to also peel and chop the bananas before freezing them.
Frozen Peaches: Peaches are the most important ingredient here! For best results, peel and chop the peaches before placing them in the freezer. It is near impossible to properly chop a peach once it’s fully frozen (I had to learn the hard way).
You can also buy pre-frozen peach slices at the grocery store if it’s not peach season when you make this recipe. For the fresh, chopped peaches (and if freezing the fresh ones at home to use in the ice cream), choose slightly squishy, ripe peaches. These will usually be more sugary than the harder peaches.
Xylitol: Use coconut sugar or another dry sweetener of choice. I recommend xylitol because it is white in color. This doesn’t turn the peach mixture darker and keeps it that pale yellow, orange-ish color.

- Small Saucepan
Ingredients
For the Ice Cream
- 2 medium frozen bananas peeled and chopped before freezing
- 2 medium frozen peaches peeled and chopped before freezing
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
For the Peach Mixture
- ½ medium room temperature peach peeled and chopped into small pieces
- 1 tbsp xylitol
- ½ tbsp room temperature water
For the Topping
- vegan whipped cream optional
Instructions
- Before beginning this recipe, make sure to freeze the chopped peaches and bananas in a freezer-safe container until completely frozen. While these are freezing, make the peach mixture below and place it in the refrigerator to chill so everything is ready to go once the fruits are frozen.
Make the Peach Mixture
- Mix together the chunks of peaches with the water and xylitol in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it starts to boil and thicken. This will take about 7-9 minutes.
- Once the compote has thickened, pour it into a heat-proof bowl and allow it to cool at room temperature for an hour. Then place it in the refrigerator for 4 hours to chill.
Make the Ice Cream
- After four hours, blend together all ice cream ingredients in a high-speed blender until it forms a soft-serve consistency.
- Scrape the ice cream mixture out of the blender and into a bowl. Top it with the chilled peach mixture.
- Enjoy right away!
