This easy recipe is versatile and straight foward to make with three simple ingredients (four, if you add extra sweetener, or count the water). You can enjoy it chilled over ice for a refreshing iced peach tea, or serve it warm for a cozy, hot tea. It’s a great way to stay hydrated while benefitting from the antioxidants in green tea. Plus, with the natural sweetness of the peach slices, there’s no need for artificial sweeteners, making this a healthy beverage you can enjoy anytime.

So Many Types of Peaches

There are many different types of peaches you can find at the grocery store. Yellow peaches work the best here, but you can experiment with the other varieties as well!

Yellow Peaches: These peaches have a vibrant golden-yellow skin, often with a reddish blush. The flesh is also yellow, sometimes with a slight red tint near the pit. Yellow peaches are the most common type you’ll find in grocery stores. They have a tangy-sweet flavor that becomes more pronounced as they ripen. The slight acidity in their taste makes them versatile for both eating fresh and cooking.

Ideal for pies, cobblers, and preserves. They hold up well when grilled or roasted, making them a fantastic choice for savory dishes as well.

White Peaches: White peaches have a paler, almost pinkish-white flesh with a more delicate skin that can range from pale yellow to a rosy hue. These peaches are generally sweeter and less acidic than their yellow counterparts, offering a more delicate and aromatic flavor profile. They’re often described as having a floral sweetness.

Best enjoyed fresh to savor their subtle flavor. They’re also great for light desserts, smoothies, or as a sweet contrast in salads.

Donut Peaches (also known as Saturn Peaches): These peaches have a distinctive flat, doughnut-like shape, with a small pit in the center. The skin is usually yellow with a red blush. Donut peaches are incredibly sweet and juicy, with a slightly firmer texture. Their mild, honey-like sweetness makes them a treat to eat out of hand.

Perfect for snacking, they’re also a fun addition to fruit salads or as a garnish for summer drinks.

Why You’ll Love This Homemade Peach Green Tea Recipe

Perfect Summer Drink: Peaches are the ultimate summer fruit, bursting with juicy sweetness and vibrant flavor. They’re at their peak during the warm months, making them the perfect ingredient for a variety of seasonal dishes. Whether you’re enjoying them fresh off the tree or incorporating them into drinks like this homemade recipe, peaches add a natural sweetness and a touch of sunshine to everything they touch.

Added Sugar Free: This tea uses real peaches, which brings a natural peach flavor as opposed to using peach syrup. Being able to make a drink like this at home, with natural flavor and controlling the amount of sugar, is much healthier!

Making Use Of Peach Season: Peaches are the quintessential summer fruit, bursting with sweet juiciness and a fragrant aroma that can make any warm day feel a bit more magical. There are so many different ways to use peaches, making peach tea is just one of them!

The summery flavor of peach brings back so many memories of a hot summer day, lounging in the heat. From roadside stands to farmers’ markets, the sight of baskets overflowing with peaches signals that the season of sun and relaxation is in full swing. Peaches, with their velvety skin and luscious flesh, are the embodiment of summer’s bounty, perfect for eating fresh, grilling, baking into pies, or blending into smoothies.

Substitutions

Stevia: Substitue with a sweetener of your choice. Note that using a refined sugar, such as simple syrup, will not keep the recipe sugar-free.

This recipe is naturally sweetened by the peaches, but if you prefer a little more sweetness, consider adding a natural sweetener like pure maple syrup. You can also let the peaches sit longer in the tea for more infusion.

Peaches: While fresh, ripe peaches are ideal for this recipe, especially when they’re in season, but frozen peaches can be a great alternative. Just be sure to thaw them before using, as they’ll release more juice when thawed, which can add extra flavor to your tea. Or, try substituting raspberries or other fresh fruit that can make a different flavor of tea (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries would be interesting to try)!

Green Tea: Try this out with your choice of white tea bags instead.

Homemade Peach Green Tea Recipe Notes

  • The strength of your green tea is up to you! If you prefer a bolder tea flavor, steep the tea bags longer or add an extra tea bag. For a lighter, more delicate flavor, steep for a shorter time.
  • Serve this peach green tea with a slice of lemon or a few fresh mint leaves for an added layer of flavor. It’s a perfect drink to pair with light summer meals, picnics, or just as a refreshing afternoon treat.
  • Make this into an iced peach green tea lemonade recipe by adding some ice and fresh lemon juice, like the popular Starbucks version! This way, you can avoid the sugar content that you would be getting from a store-bought iced tea.
