Why You’ll Love This Apple Cinnamon Tea Recipe
Perfect Fall Drink: When it’s apple season and you have tons of multi-colored apples in the drawers of your fridge, in your garage, on your kitchen countertops … you need to use them in different recipes, right?! Imagine wrapping your hands around a warm mug filled with the comforting aroma of apples and spices – this tea delivers that cozy sensation with every sip. The combination of freshly sliced apples and cinnamon sticks creates a soothing, heartwarming drink that evokes the essence of autumn and festive cheer. The infusion of cloves and star anise adds depth and complexity, enhancing the overall warmth of the tea. It’s the perfect beverage to curl up with on a crisp evening or to enjoy while spending time with loved ones, bringing a sense of calm and relaxation to your day.
Natural Sweetness: One of the standout features of this recipe is its emphasis on natural sweetness. By using fresh apple slices, you’re able to infuse the tea with a rich, subtle sweetness that perfectly balances the spices without the need for added sugars. This approach not only highlights the wholesome flavors of the apples but also keeps the tea light and healthy. You can enjoy a flavorful and satisfying drink that aligns with a clean, mindful approach to nutrition. It’s an ideal choice for those looking to indulge in a sweet treat while maintaining a focus on natural, unprocessed ingredients.
Substitutions
Apples: Choose crisp red apples, such as Honeycrisp or Fuji. Green apples are more tart and have less natural sweetness as opposed to red apples. If you use green apples, you can adjust the sweetness in the recipe by adding some pure maple syrup to compensate.
Cinnamon: This tea uses a whole cinnamon stick. I do not recommend to use pre-ground cinnamon, because it will not be strained out and cause the tea to remain grainy.
Fresh Ginger: Use fresh ginger, not pre-ground.
Nutmeg: If you don’t have ground nutmeg, you can try grating a small amount of a whole nutmeg directly into the pot. Use half the amount of fresh nutmeg as opposed to what the recipe calls for with pre-ground nutmeg.
Hot Spiced Apple Cinnamon Tea Recipe Notes
- Use whole spices like cinnamon sticks, instead of ground spices for a richer, more vibrant flavor.
- Adjust the sugar with pure maple syrup or your choice of sweetener. Add the sweetener in when the drink is hot and ready to be served.
