Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Water

Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Water

Today we are making Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Water! Warm lemon water has been popular for making herbal tea over the last few years, and with good reason! It has tons of antioxidant properties and detoxifying effects, along with turmeric and ginger for glowing skin and a healthy immune system, digestive system, perfect drink for the cold weather or a sore throat, a good source of Vitamin C and also been known to help with weight loss as it reduces hunger. Warm water, fresh turmeric root, cayenne pepper, fresh ginger root, fresh lemon and a pinch of black pepper is the ultimate immunity blend for your morning ritual first thing when you wake up! Way better than just regular old water, if you ask me. So today, I’m going to share my favorite lemon water recipe!

How To Make This Drink

It’s quite easy to make – but there’s a special ratio of lemon juice to ginger to turmeric powder that’s just right for the most delicious flavor. Not too overpowering, not too dull! This lemon ginger turmeric tea is the perfect blend of citrus, spicy ginger and a subtle hint of turmeric. There’s no added sugars, and the health benefits of turmeric and the other ingredients are plenty.

Although we boil all the ingredients on the stovetop, one other way you can make this turmeric drink is to blend the ingredients together and freeze them into ice cube trays, popping them into a mug of hot water when ready to drink! Or, make a lemon ginger turmeric wellness shot with minimal water but just a small shot you can chug with these ingredients in concentrated form to get the most of the anti-inflammatory properties.

Why You’ll Love This Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Water

Immunity-Boosting Drink: This refreshing drink makes drinking plain water fun again, but also packs a punch when it comes to bolstering your immune system. This vibrant blend of zesty lemon, fiery ginger, and golden turmeric is like a sunshine elixir in a glass. It’s your ticket to feeling refreshed, helping your body ward off those pesky colds and flu bugs that seem to lurk around every corner. Plus, it’s a great way to start your day or enjoy a mid-afternoon pick-me-up!

Substitutions

Lemon: Try using fresh orange or lime slices instead of lemon. Do not use the bottled juice, as it tastes more acidic and loses that “fresh” flavor from the lemon slices themselves.

Turmeric: You can use a few thin slices of fresh turmeric. But note that it has a strong flavor and can stain your cups a yellow color. Instead, I used a pinch ground turmeric for this recipe. The black pepper is added to help with absorption of the turmeric, so don’t omit that either if you want to get the full effects of this spice.

Ginger: Use a few slices of thinly grated ginger. It would be easiest to use a potato peeler, or very thinly slice the pieces with a knife. Do not substitute with dried ginger.

Lemon Ginger & Turmeric Water Recipe Notes

  • If you prefer a summer drink, make this drink in a large pitcher with some ice cubes. Refrigerate it until ready to drink, adding more lemon, orange and grapefruit slices for a stronger citrus flavor!
  • Make a concentrated juice shot with all these ingredients but a lot less water. Try coconut water instead of regular!
