It’s a creative way to add a touch of celebration to everyday snacking.

No Special Equipment Needed: You don’t need any fancy kitchen gadgets to make these bites. A simple spice grinder and a mixing bowl are all you need to create these delightful treats. This makes them accessible and easy to whip up, even if you’re not a seasoned baker.

Substitutions

Almond Flour: Sub in almond meal. It doesn’t have as buttery of a taste, because almond meal uses the skins of the almonds when it’s ground, whereas almond flour doesn’t.

Coconut Oil: Use refined coconut oil, which does not smell or taste like coconuts (unlike virgin or extra-virgin).

Cashew Butter: Do not substitute cashew butter with another nut butter. Specifically, cashews have a buttery flavor which works perfectly here. The ingredient label should only contain one ingredient – just cashews! You can find it at health food stores, in the natural foods aisle of grocery stores, or online.

Maple Syrup: Sub in agave nectar (which is not refined sugar-free though).

Cashews: Do not substitute the cashews. Make sure they are roasted and salted cashews, where the flavor is more pronounced, versus raw cashews.

Oats: Substitute with raw walnuts instead. Make sure to grind them to a powder before using.

Rainbow Sprinkles: Not all sprinkles are vegan-friendly. Some brands use coatings that contain insect-derived shellac, which is not vegan. It’s important to check the ingredients list before buying. PETA has a handy guide on vegan sprinkles, which you can find here.
