Starbucks Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino

Today we are making the Starbucks Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino! Starbucks Frappuccinos are a great blended drink on a hot day. They’re icy cold, taste like dessert, have a huge dollop of whipped cream on top, have tons of different flavors and most of them contain shots of espresso for a kick of caffeine.

This recipe is caffeine-free though! The flavor is like banana cream pie, but this sweet treat is now in drinkable form. This drink is inspired by the frappuccino of the same name on the Starbucks secret menu: The Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino, which uses a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino base, with vanilla syrup, hazelnut syrup and a whole banana with whipped cream to top.

Today though, we put our own spin on this tasty treat. We aren’t using simple syrups made with refined sugar, or any different flavors of syrups that you need to go out and buy or make. There’s no ice cream, no heavy cream or any of the other dairy-based ingredients usually found in a frappuccino either! Instead, we use a frozen banana (which provides sugar and the banana flavor), frozen coconut milk, oat milk and pure maple syrup (if you really like a sweeter recipe).

Why You’ll Love This Starbucks Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino

Starbucks Secret Menu Remake: This creamy frappuccino is a remake of the Starbucks Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino, which is found on their secret menu. The secret menu frappuccino list is a wacky combination of different drinks, such as the Tie-Dye Frappuccino, Neapolitan, Snickers or a classic banana split turned into the Banana Split Frappuccino.

I’ve definitely tried a few of the sugar-laden drinks on this list, they’re delicious but quite expensive with the additional pumps of syrups and flavorings. Not to mention a lot of extra sugar and artificial flavors. It’s more budget-friendly and healthier to make your own frappuccino at home! This way, you can control what goes in your frappe and customize the flavor.

Substitutions

Coconut Milk: Use full-fat, canned coconut milk before freezing it into ice cubes. I recommend Thai Kitchen brand for it. This makes the recipe taste decadent due to the healthy fats, as opposed to using carton milk, or a lower fat vegan milk such as almond or cashew. It kind of acts like heavy cream in an ice cream or frappuccino recipe, giving it a creamy texture.

You can use cashew milk, soy milk (for a high protein milk), almond milk, macadamia milk or another plant-based milk that’s lower in fat, but the recipe will taste more icy as opposed to creamy.

Maple Syrup: Use other liquid natural sweeteners as a substitute, such as agave nectar or coconut nectar. If using maple syrup, make sure there is only one ingredient – just the maple syrup – on the label. It shouldn’t be pancake-style maple syrup with artificial sweeteners in it.

Oat Milk: Substitute with another plant-based milk, such as almond milk or cashew milk.

Banana: Peel and chop a fresh banana. Then place it in the freezer in a freezer-safe container or a Ziploc bag. Freeze it overnight or for about 6 hours before using. For best results, choose a banana that is not too ripe but not too spotty either.

Starbucks Banana Cream Pie Frappuccino Recipe Notes

  • Top this drink with vegan whipped cream to really make it a true frappuccino (whipped cream is the best part + extra decadence)! You can find coconut whip or soy whip that comes out of an aerosol can in certain grocery stores.
  • Add a banana slice on top of the whip before serving. This adds more color and makes for a beautiful picture with yellow against the white of the cool whip!
  • Note that this recipe will be refined sugar-free, except for the whipped cream if you choose to add it on top.
