Starbucks Copycat Chocolate Cream Cold Brew Recipe
Today we are making a Starbucks Copycat Chocolate Cream Cold Brew Recipe! This drink is a relatively new addition to their cold drink menu, and it’s quickly become a favorite for those who enjoy the rich combo of chocolate and coffee. At Starbucks, they start with their signature cold brew, known for its smooth, bold flavor that’s steeped slowly for a less acidic taste. What really sets this drink apart is the decadent chocolate cold foam on top, which is made by blending their chocolate malt powder with vanilla sweet cream, creating a frothy, chocolatey topping that cascades down into the cold brew as you sip.
While Starbucks’ version uses dairy and a specific chocolate malt blend, today’s recipe offers a vegan twist without sacrificing any of that indulgent, café-worthy flavor. The chocolate cold foam at Starbucks is thick and airy, giving the drink a creamy texture with just the right amount of sweetness to balance the strong coffee. Recreating this at home with melted vegan chocolate chips and vegan whipping cream allows you to replicate that same velvety foam but with plant-based ingredients.
By making this Starbucks Copycat Chocolate Cream Cold Brew at home, you can enjoy the best of both worlds – the boldness of a smooth cold brew and the luxurious, sweet chocolate cream topping – but with complete control over the ingredients and flavor intensity. It’s perfect for anyone who loves Starbucks’ drinks but prefers a dairy-free or vegan option that doesn’t compromise on taste or texture!
Why You’ll Love This Starbucks Chocolate Cream Cold Brew
Hard To Find Drink: One of the reasons to love this Starbucks Copycat Chocolate Cream Cold Brew is the difficulty of finding vegan versions of these trendy Starbucks drinks in many coffee shops. I love going to various cafes, but I have yet to find a place that makes a vegan chocolate cream cold brew!
Homemade Vegan Indulgence: This Starbucks Copycat Chocolate Cream Cold Brew gives you all the indulgent flavor of the original but with a vegan twist. By using dairy-free chocolate chips and vegan whipping cream, you get that same luxurious, velvety chocolate cold foam without any dairy. It’s perfect for anyone looking to enjoy this popular Starbucks drink right at home!
Substitutions
Agave Nectar: Swap with 100%, light maple syrup (the maple flavor is not as strong as a dark syrup).
Vegan Whipping Cream: I used Silk’s Dairy-Free Whipping Cream Alternative, as shown in the image above the recipe card (scroll down to view). There may be other brands that make vegan whipping cream, but this one is my go-to because of the taste and texture.
Cold Brew: Use a vanilla-flavored or neutral cold brew flavor of choice.
Chocolate Chips: Use vegan semisweet chocolate chips (or chocolate chunks) in this recipe. Dark chocolate will leave it with a bitter underlying taste, and milk chocolate will be too sweet. Many brands of semisweet chocolate chips are vegan – just check the ingredient label to make sure there’s no dairy added (like milk or milk powder).
Chocolate Cream Cold Brew Recipe Notes
- Feel free to get creative with toppings! You can add chocolate shavings or a drizzle of extra melted chocolate for a more indulgent treat.
