Today we are making the Starbucks Snickers Frappuccino recipe (from the secret menu)! Before we roll up our sleeves and make this recipe, let’s take a moment to discuss all the details that make this blended drink an absolute must-try.
Let me introduce you to the world of Snickers (if you have a sweet tooth, you probably know exactly what I’m about to tell you). This iconic candy bar brings back childhood memories and boasts a perfect blend of smooth caramel, crunchy peanuts, and rich chocolate, all encased in a satisfying nougat layer. It’s a flavor explosion that’s hard to resist! Now, this Snickers Frappuccino captures all those delightful elements in a chilled, sippable form. But it’s not your everyday frappuccino – this one’s entirely vegan and skips the typical ingredients like ice cream and processed additives. So, if you’re looking for that unforgettable Snickers experience but with a conscious twist, you’re in for a special treat.
What’s In This Drink?
So what’s in this secret menu drink? You might get a few blank stares from any Starbucks barista, so you would usually have to specify what’s in the drink. So you would have to ask for a Java Chip Frappuccino base (cue some crunchy java chips), then add in the sugary syrup: one pump toffee nut syrup, extra caramel in the Starbucks cup, topped with caramel sauce.
So you might be wondering, what exactly are Starbucks secret menu drinks? It’s a bit like an exclusive club for those in the know. Starbucks has a hidden world of off-menu creations, beyond the regular offerings. These secret menu items are custom concoctions crafted by Starbucks aficionados and baristas themselves, utilizing the ingredients already available in the store. They’re like secret codes to unlock unique and delightful flavor combinations that might not be on the official menu item, but can be found online with a quick Google search. So now you know – let’s get onto the recipe!
Why You’ll Love This Starbucks Secret Menu Frappuccino
Irresistible Snickers Flavors: Picture this: a delightful fusion of creamy caramel, crunchy peanuts, and decadent chocolate, all harmoniously blended into a single, chilled concoction. It’s the ultimate homage to the beloved Snickers candy bar. Every sip delivers the perfect balance of these flavors, creating a truly indulgent experience. It’s a great to enjoy your favorite candy bar, but in the form of a refreshing, sippable treat.
Vegan and Healthier Twist: This recipe is different than frappuccinos you’ve had in the past because it’s entirely vegan and has much less added sugar than traditional frappes do! We’ve bid goodbye to the conventional ice cream and processed ingredients, instead making it vegan with a blend of frozen oat milk, cold coffee, peanut butter caramel made of coconut milk and more. Whether you follow a vegan lifestyle, or are simply looking to make healthier choices for sugary recipes, this recipe is a win-win for everyone!
Substitutions: Milk
Oat Milk: Substitute with any other neutral non-dairy milk of choice. Almond milk, cashew milk, full-fat canned coconut milk, soy milk or other plant-based milks may work. Oat milk has a sweet and nutty flavor, which is enjoyable in this drink.
Coconut Milk: Use full-fat, canned coconut milk before freezing it into ice cubes. I recommend Thai Kitchen brand for it. This is the best way to make the recipe taste decadent due to the healthy fats, as opposed to using carton milk, or a lower fat vegan milk such as almond or cashew. It kind of acts like heavy cream in an ice cream or frappuccino recipe, giving it a creamy texture.
You can use cashew milk, soy milk (for a high protein milk), almond milk, macadamia milk or another plant-based milk that’s lower in fat, but the recipe will taste more icy as opposed to creamy.
Substitutions: Sugar
Maple Syrup: The homemade version of this delicious drink uses a lot less sugar than in the Starbucks version. Pure maple syrup (not pancake syrup) provides the sweetener for this recipe. You can also use another sweetener of choice. Xylitol, brown sugar, agave nectar or any liquid or dry sweetener will work. For example, monk fruit sugar can work as a keto sweetener for those who prefer something low carb. Note that using brown sugar will not be a refined sugar-free option.
Coconut Sugar: Substitute brown sugar.
Substitutions: Other
Peanut Butter: Use creamy peanut butter for this recipe. Choose one that doesn’t contain added oils or sugars on the ingredient label – just one ingredient, roasted peanuts.
Vanilla Extract: For best results, pure vanilla extract, without added artificial colors and dyes (like caramel color). You can use artificial vanilla flavor as well. However, it may come off as more bitter and not as smooth or sweet as the pure version.
Black Coffee: You can use cold brew coffee, instant coffee, a shot of espresso mixed with water or any version of strong coffee.
Chocolate Chips: Use semisweet chocolate for this recipe, as dark chocolate will have an underlying bitter flavor that won’t work as well here. You can use vegan semisweet chocolate chips or a chopped semisweet chocolate bar. Check the ingredient label to make sure it doesn’t contain any milk products like milk fat or milk powder, so it would be vegan.
Starbucks Snickers Frappuccino Recipe Notes
- Gay Lea brand makes delicious coconut cream based whip. This is usually next to the regular aerosol cans of whipped cream in the grocery store. For a non-coconut-base, ReddiWhip makes an almond based whip instead. There may be other brands providing soy-based whip instead of a nut-based one as well, depending on where you live.
