This makes it a great option for those transitioning to a plant-based diet or looking to reduce meat consumption without sacrificing the enjoyment of their favorite dishes.
Substitutions
TVP: Substitute with brown lentils, or extra-firm crumbled tofu.
Tamari: This is a lower-sodium, gluten-free version of soy sauce. You can replace it with regular soy sauce, but the recipe will not be gluten-free. Adjust the flavors accordingly, as soy sauce is also saltier than tamari.
Tomato Paste: Swap this out for a pasta sauce instead (garlic-tomato pasta sauce would taste great here)!
Red Onion: Substitute with a white or yellow onion.
Vegetable Broth: Choose a vegetable broth to absorb with the TVP, for maximum flavor.
Avocado Oil: Substitute with olive oil instead.
